Our role in relation to wastewater and stormwater
From today, we begin the next stage of our journey as the water services regulator.
Our role in relation to public wastewater and stormwater networks begins as the remaining provisions in the Water Services Act 2021 commence.
As well as being the regulator for drinking water supplies, we now have a role to monitor and report on the environmental performance of wastewater and stormwater networks across Aotearoa New Zealand. We are also tasked with supporting improvements in the environmental performance of those networks where necessary.
